OUR STORY

At iJetta, every stitch, bead, and design carries a story—one woven through tradition, creativity, and a lifelong journey of cultural expression. Founded by Jetta Martineau, an enrolled Shivwits member of the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, iJetta is more than just art; it is a legacy of movement, resilience, and passion.

Born into a world of tradition, Jetta grew up in St. George and the San Carlos Apache Reservation, traveling the powwow trail and dancing since the age of five. Powwows became more than gatherings—they were places of connection, rhythm, and self-expression. Through years of traveling, learning, and embracing her heritage, she found a way to preserve and share her identity: beadwork.

Inspired by her childhood comic book hero, Dorthy Dot, Jetta developed a deep love for dots, seeing them not just as a design element but as a symbol of joy, individuality, and artistic freedom. Every medallion and beaded creation reflects this inspiration—an homage to the simplicity and beauty of dots, woven into intricate works of art.

Beyond beadwork, Jetta has dedicated years to serving her community, holding leadership roles as a councilwoman, chairwoman, and vice-chairwoman of the Shivwits Band. She also worked in economic development, cultural preservation, and emergency management, ensuring that traditions are honored and protected. Her work as a tribal monitor and participation in archaeological digs further deepened her connection to history.

Despite the many paths she has walked, one thing remains constant: she continues to dance, create, and follow the powwow trail every summer, carrying the traditions forward while celebrating the art that has always been at the heart of her journey.

iJetta is more than beadwork—it’s a reflection of movement, heritage, and doing what you love, no matter what anyone says.
